NWA: Can we meet you?
My name is Toluse Francis I am from Kwara State. I attended Baptist Model High School Ijegun Lagos. I have a degree in Biochemistry from Bowen University, Iwo in Osun State and diplomas in Mental Health and Human Nutrition respectively from ALISON, Ireland. I am single and unmarried.
NWA: What is writing to you?
For me writing is a way of sharing my thoughts and knowledge with the world hence bringing it to life and giving life to people.
NWA: When did you discover your writing talent and the journey so far?
Writing has been part of me right from my childhood, I write in form of disputing arguments. I used to be a member and PRO of the Literary and Debating Society of my Secondary School then and since then I realized I loved to write. The journey hasn’t been easy going my area of interest, Health even though I write other genres.
NWA: Which is your first writing accolade?
My first was when I won the Health Blog of the Year 2014 by The Nigerian Blog Awards.
NWA: You do you manage your blog (tolufrancis.com) with your time.
For me, it is all about planning and something you have a desire for. I write majorly at night. However, should I receive insight during the day, my friend Evernote does the work (it is an app).
NWA: In 2015 you were nominated for the Nigerian Writers Awards in the category of health writer of the year and in 2014 you won the Nigerian Blog Awards for the Health blog of the year, what makes your blog and writing stand out from others?
Really I can’t say. But I think I don’t write just for people to read and walk away rather I teach so they learn. In other words, I am not concerned about the traffic but the result which is Good Health stemming from Good Nutrition.
NWA: As a writer what has been/is your biggest challenge?
Platforms to showcase to my thoughts and recognition but I will wait and my time will come.
NWA: Aside from writing what else do you do?
I work with an E-commerce company in Nigeria and also working on my book, Eat Fit.
NWA: How do you unwind?
Unwind? Hmm. Can’t say If I do but I watch soccer and movies once in while otherwise, I am reading.
NWA: Have you gotten negative comments about your work(s), if yes how did you handle it?
Yes, I have. What I did was to allow the person express her views and I also expressed mine. No arguments. My rule is.. You don’t have to agree with me.
